A structured, in-person look at the practical challenges, priorities and choices around an older person's home — with independent guidance and agreed next steps.
Enquire about a Home Independence Review →What is a Home Independence Review?
The LIVKIND Home Independence Review is a practical starting point for people who want to remain at home as they grow older, or for families trying to plan ahead. It focuses on how the home is working day to day, which practical tasks may need attention and which decisions are best made sooner rather than in a crisis.
We work with the older person's wishes at the centre of the conversation. Where family members are involved, information is shared with the person's agreement.
What happens during a review?
- Initial conversation: We check whether our service is suitable, explain the scope and agree who will be involved.
- Joint home visit: Both LIVKIND founders discuss everyday use of the home, practical obstacles, maintenance, priorities and available support.
- Written action plan: We organise the discussion into Now / Next / Future steps and identify questions needing input from appropriate specialists.
- Optional coordination: If requested, we can separately discuss help arranging quotes, trades or other practical next steps.
Proposed review fee: £495
Our current proposed fee is £495 for the joint Home Independence Review. The precise visit duration, written deliverables, travel boundaries and any additional work must be confirmed in writing before booking. An enquiry is not a booking.
Ask about availability →Who is this for?
Older homeowners who want greater confidence at home; adult children helping parents think through the future; and families who need a neutral, organised starting point for practical property decisions in Medway and selected areas across Kent.
What this service does not do
LIVKIND does not replace a medical or occupational therapy assessment, regulated care, a structural survey, legal advice or financial advice. Where these are needed, we identify the question and suggest seeking appropriately qualified independent professionals. We do not promise that every home can be made safe or suitable for continued independent living.
Frequently asked questions
Can adult children arrange a review for a parent?
Yes, a family member can start the enquiry, but we would need the older person's agreement to participate and to share their information.
Is this a clinical home assessment?
No. It is practical, non-clinical planning. Clinical needs and specialist adaptation recommendations require suitably qualified professionals.
Can you arrange the work afterwards?
Potentially. Practical coordination is discussed separately and depends on the type of work, available providers and agreed scope.
Where do you visit?
We are based in Medway, Kent. We assess visit availability across selected Kent locations individually, including travel needs.
